Evi Home is a Ukrainian children’s furniture brand with over 5 years of market experience. The store offers personalized furniture for children, primarily toddlers, and also includes wooden toys in its range. The main feature is the flexibility in creating customized products, as well as the ability to design items based on individual preferences. Some products are developed based on the popular Montessori program.

We were approached with a request to launch on Etsy as the first channel to scale into the international market. At the time of publishing this case, we’ve been working on the store for three months. The initial steps included two comprehensive audits. Our specialists analyzed 5 direct competitors to understand the overall market offering and price segment. Next, we conducted a niche audit: the kids’ furniture niche on Etsy is highly competitive, so the key task was to identify our potential advantages and improve the overall offering.

Setting Up the Store from Scratch on Etsy

After completing the two audits, our specialists moved on to filling the store. We developed the store’s design and technically prepared it for the first sales. The next step was creating the listings. Our Etsy store specializes in a wide variety of furniture options. Customers can also choose from a broad color palette.

A key feature of our approach is the customization option— each client can select the desired shape, color, and combination of furniture and leave a comment for further clarification. To communicate our offerings clearly, we developed infographics.

Our products are slightly more expensive than competitors due to the higher shipping costs compared to U.S. based manufacturers.

However, we began receiving organic orders shortly after launching the store.

One of the main advantages is the convenient navigation of the listings. Thanks to clear visuals and detailed infographics, customers can easily understand which furniture set they are selecting.

  • Product size with access to a size chart and explanations of which furniture fits different child age ranges.
  • Set format: easy selection of sets depending on the number of chairs included with the table.
  • Instructions for entering data correctly.
  • A free field for choosing product shapes, additional customer wishes, or creating a unique design.
  • Separate listings of furniture sets, which are highlighted using special labels.

Results

In the first month of store operation, we received 6 orders totaling $1,192, as well as 1,620 visits and 3,639 views. We paid particular attention to tags, which helped us achieve 90% organic traffic without any additional advertising.

In the second month of active work, alongside creating new listings, we began focusing on obtaining reviews. We introduced a 35% discount bonus for the first purchase, which boosted orders and will help secure the Star Seller status on Etsy. While this is a significant discount, it effectively “jumpstarts” the store during the early stages, preparing it for the high season.

To maintain communication with customers and emphasize our values, we added an infographic highlighting our Ukrainian origins and market experience. Even if there aren’t enough reviews on Etsy yet, we compensate for this with photo reviews from satisfied Ukrainian customers and clearly explain in our product descriptions that we are just starting to enter the international market.

We continue to improve our listings and are testing the most successful ones in ads to ensure they are profitable. Currently, our daily ad budget is $5.

Conclusions

Our goal is to increase the store’s turnover by 15% each month, which we are successfully achieving so far. The store became profitable from the first month of operation.

Future plans include enhancing the brand’s offering and adapting it to Etsy’s platform features. For example, we’ve already proposed adding personalized engraving on toys, which the client adopted as an idea for the Ukrainian market. We also plan to increase the number of listings, scale the advertising, and integrate Pinterest and Offsite Ads as additional traffic channels.

At the time of publishing this case study, the store has already received 20 orders, worth $2903. The number of visits increased to 3777.

The client is satisfied, and we continue working on the project.
